Employment law

19th century is the start of the industrialization in western countries therefore history of employment law starts. Since then until nowadays employees’ rights have increased and expanded. Now in the most countries there is a legislation which ensures a minimum wage for all workers, prevents workers from being dismissed, makes equal opportunities for both men and women and etc.

In different parts of the world employment rights and laws are a bit different. In England employees have much more rights than self-employed people, because they seem to be in weaker economic position. In European countries employees sometimes have even more rights than in England. One of the first employment rights approved by law was the right to strike. The rules certainly changed in the course of time and vary in different countries. In Japan employment law provides significantly fewer rights than in many western countries. Partly it is better because employees don’t have to worry about insurance, accommodation and etc. The company usually takes care of all these procedures.
